Basically, Tales of Innocence is about reincarnation! There used to be two worlds, heaven and earth, and before that they were only one world-- so let's start in the past. Vritra is a dragon personification of winter worshipped like a god who's been around foreverrr and she remembers it. She's also really lonely! There aren't a lot of dragons in her world, if any, so one day she hears a baby and digs in the earth to find Asras, who she raises as her son. It's great, because he's protected to adulthood, and she's not lonely anymore, and, one day, he becomes the charismatic general leading a war in heaven because he wants to reunite heaven and earth and make it the world that his mommy remembers.

Spoilery stuff happens, but what the fallout is is that there IS a merge but in a really weird way, because people from heaven are getting reborn on earth but retaining powers. These powers can, at moments of extreme emotion, generally, Awaken, and they will become recognizable to others as tenseisha, or heavenly beings, though even before that, they'll generally dream about their past life.

THIS IS NOT GOOD! Because tenseisha are pretty much feared and reviled by normal people, so they get shuffled off to prison camps, battlefields, whatever will make them "useful" and get them away from the general populace.

Hermana is born into this world! Her parents are traveling merchants, and, generally, when she tells people about her dreams, they don't understand and shun her, even though she's not Awakened. Then, one day, when she is twelve, her parents are killed by robbers. She does NOT Awaken at this time-- she runs away and manages to make it to what is theoretically the nearest city, a place named Regnum.

Coincidentally, Regnum is the place where her son's reincarnation, a boy named Ruca, lives, but they don't meet until a year later :Db

Anyway, she's in the orphanage for just long enough to figure out that it's overcrowded, kids are fighting for food, and the weaker kids are basically starving off. So instead of suffering that, she takes them, flees out of the orphanage, finds a hideout in the sewer, and they become thieves. This works, surprisingly! And after a year, the Tales party comes waltzing into her life.

Long story short, she awakens when the kids she's taking care of are in trouble, punches the shit out of a tenseisha even though she only comes up to his waist, and joins the party, leaving the kids in the hands of someone who was sworn to her past incarnation as Vritra. She then proceeds to not have a ton of character development-- most of her really interesting quirks and developments actually come out in skits, where it's revealed that she thinks she might kind of be crushing on her son's incarnation, for example, and she gets some pretty major backlash from the party for that. Or the fact that she has no education (and believes she has no talents besides stealing and fighting because of it) and the party's very fumbling attempts to help her with math, etc. But most of her story is never actually resolved by the narrative, and, at the end, she goes back to the kids and the sewer, with the intent of someday bringing them to the school that another party member is setting up.

:|b AND THEN I APPED HER INTO AATHER. Yeah, I've only seen one other Hermana and there was only one post in her journal-- I think the character had been dropped.

APP… probably not. I'd play Kurai or Hatter or Uriel though since they are my favorites and I have a journal for at least one of them lying around *^* but other people I know play all of them and AS is really well-known and I would be comparing myself to everyone foreverrrr aaaah /o\ so I'd probably just play them in an informal setting or something.
