Prior to this, he liked her a lot! And I mean he would always bus a team for Aoko for Kit! But after that feelings confession, NOW IT'S LIKE HE'LL BUS A TEAM FOR AOKO because don't you dare touch a single hair on her head. I think the reason why her confession was filled with so many feelings for him is because HE CAN UNDERSTAND TEAMMATE FEELINGS BEING DUMPED ON HIM LIKE THAT.
